Neighborhoods in Richardson

UT Dallas, CityLine and Galatyn Park each have a page of their own; the Core District, Richardson’s old downtown, has its section below.

The Core District

The Core District is Richardson’s historic downtown, along Main Street near US 75. The town began after 1873, when the Houston and Texas Central Railway built a depot and then laid out the first lots, on sale from 1874; it took the name of the railroad’s secretary, Alfred S. Richardson. In 1908 the Interurban electric railway linked it to Dallas, Denison, Waco and Corsicana.

Main Street also holds a first for the city’s library: in 1947 a branch of the Dallas County Library opened in part of the Cash Dry Goods store on East Main Street, the start of today’s Richardson Public Library.

There is no rail station on Main Street itself. The Red Line stops at Spring Valley, to the south, and at Arapaho Center, to the north, at Greenville Avenue and Arapaho Road, one block east of US 75. Arapaho Center is DART’s main bus transfer center in Richardson, with an indoor waiting area and a bus route to UT Dallas; downtown Dallas is about Maps: X min from there by train. Start your list here if you want the oldest part of Richardson between two Red Line stations.

What we actually do in Richardson

Three things happen here that a listing grid cannot do for you.

  1. 01

    CALLS

Apartment inventory changes. We call the property before presenting a place instead of publishing a stale listing page.

  2. 02

    YOUR LIST, YOUR RULES

Steering a client toward a property for our own benefit is a breach of a broker duty in Texas, not a matter of preference. If you rule an option out, tell us in writing and it stays out.

  3. 03

    DATED

Every rent on this page shows its source and date. Community rents and specials show the day we checked them; a special comes down 30 days after its last check, and a community we haven’t checked in 60 days comes off our pages.
