Nothing. Properties pay locators to fill their units, usually a share of the first month’s rent, and only once you have signed and moved in. None of it is added to your rent.

Living in Arlington
Three facts that shape daily life here. The rent figures come right after, dated and sourced.
01
Between the two downtowns
Arlington is in Tarrant County, about 12 miles east of downtown Fort Worth and 20 miles west of downtown Dallas. Interstates 20 and 30 cross the city from east to west, and State Highway 360 runs along its eastern side.
02
A railroad town from 1876
Arlington was founded in 1876 on the Texas and Pacific Railway and incorporated on April 21, 1884. Freight trains still use that line, but no passenger train stops in the city.
03
Rides on demand instead of bus routes
For years Arlington was the largest U.S. city without public transit. Via Arlington, a shared ride you book in an app, began in December 2017 and has covered the whole city since January 19, 2021.

The step that matters most here is the second bedroom: the two-bedroom median is $305 a month above the one-bedroom median. If a roommate or a home office is in the plan, we price both sizes for you.

Neighborhoods in Arlington
Three parts of Arlington are described below, from the stadiums to the lakes in the north. Their names are proposals that the owner still has to confirm, and we search the rest of the city too.

The Entertainment District is the cluster of stadiums, parks and hotels northeast of downtown, around Randol Mill Road and Collins Street. It started with a theme park: Six Flags Over Texas, the first park of the chain, opened on 212 acres on August 5, 1961, and its sister water park, Hurricane Harbor, is in Arlington too.
The ballparks came later. Choctaw Stadium opened in 1994 as The Ballpark in Arlington. AT&T Stadium, with its retractable roof, opened in 2009 south of Randol Mill Road and east of Collins Street. Globe Life Field opened in 2020 just south of Choctaw Stadium, with the Texas Live! complex and a hotel between the two. The newest arrival is the National Medal of Honor Museum, which opened on March 25, 2025.
Living nearby means short trips to games and concerts, and heavy traffic on event days. Downtown Fort Worth is about 23 min by car away and downtown Dallas about 28 min by car. Downtown Arlington grew up beside the Texas and Pacific Railway, where the city was founded in 1876. Abram Street follows the line of the electric interurban that ran between Dallas and Fort Worth from 1902 to 1934. From 1892 to 1951 a mineral well in the middle of downtown drew visitors, and in 2023 the city rebuilt it as the Mineral Well Park Plaza, with a fountain and a clock tower.
The University of Texas at Arlington, founded in 1895, has its 420-acre main campus at the southern edge of downtown. Within a few blocks are City Hall, the George W. Hawkes Central Library, which opened in its new building in 2018, Theatre Arlington, the Arlington Museum of Art and the Levitt Pavilion, which opened in 2009 and puts on about 50 free concerts a year. In 2016 the State of Texas named downtown a cultural district.
Arlington RAPID, an on-demand self-driving shuttle, serves downtown and the campus. The Entertainment District is about 5 min by car to the northeast. Start your list here if you want to walk to a concert, the library or the campus.

Viridian is a master-planned community in north Arlington, near the Trinity River, built by Huffines Communities. Its developer describes a 2,000-acre plan with five major lakes, 500 acres of open space and another 500 acres of lakes, rivers, streams and wetlands, crossed by nature trails that connect to River Legacy Park.
The land has a long history. One of Viridian’s lake areas takes its name from Bird’s Fort, a frontier post that Major Jonathan Bird set up on the Trinity River in September 1841. Texas recognized the fort site as a historic site in 1936.
Most of Viridian is single-family homes. The ZIP code is 76005, and the community is in Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD; check any address with the district. DFW Airport is about 26 min by car away and the CentrePort/DFW Airport rail station about 26 min by car. Start your list here if lakes and trails matter more to you than being close to the stadiums.
