Living in Coppell

Three facts about the city. The Census rents are further down, with their source and years.

  1. Next to the airport

Part of DFW Airport’s land is inside Coppell. The city borders Grapevine to the west, Lewisville to the north, Carrollton to the east, and Irving and Dallas to the south.

  2. A city since 1955

Coppell voted to incorporate in 1955, 41 votes to 1. It grew from a farming village into a suburb after DFW Airport opened in 1974.

  3. Cypress Waters next door

Cypress Waters, a development in Dallas on Coppell’s southern edge, has company offices and a DART Silver Line station.

Neighborhoods in Coppell

Four places on the map. Cypress Waters, which is part of Dallas, has its own page; Old Town Coppell, North Coppell along SH 121 and Riverchase are described below.

Old Town Coppell

Old Town Coppell is the original town site, on Main Street just south of Bethel Road and South Coppell Road. Houses, shops and restaurants sit around a small town square, and the Coppell Historical Museum and the Coppell Arts Center, at 505 Travis Street, are part of the district.

On Saturday mornings the square hosts the Coppell Farmers Market, at 768 W. Main St., under a shaded pavilion with booths inside and out, beside a playground and a fountain. The market lists its hours as 8 a.m. to noon, and from January to March it opens on the second and fourth Saturdays.

A windmill from the Thweatt family land, at Bethel School Road and Denton Tap Road, was given to the city in 2004 and now stands in Heritage Park, in front of the Kirkland House. Plan on a car: the nearest rail is Cypress Waters station, about 6 min by car away. Start your list here if you want to walk to dinner and to the Saturday market.

Most of Coppell is in Dallas County, but a small area in the far north crosses into Denton County. That northernmost section is in Lewisville ISD, while most of the city is in Coppell ISD. Check any address with the district before you sign.

There is no station in Coppell. Two are within a drive: Hebron, on the DCTA A-train in Lewisville near I-35E and the Sam Rayburn Tollway, which opened in 2011 with a park-and-ride lot, and Cypress Waters, on the DART Silver Line south of the city. Each is about 6 min by car away. Start your list here if you commute along SH 121 or up I-35E.

Much of it is low ground along the Elm Fork of the Trinity River. Riverchase Golf Club, a public 18-hole course at 700 Riverchase Drive designed by Jim Fazio, sits in those bottomlands, with a chain of lakes built for drainage and irrigation running through the course.

This side of the city is in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD rather than Coppell ISD. What we actually do in Coppell

Three things happen here that a listing grid cannot do for you.

  1. 01

    CALLS

Apartment inventory changes. We call the property before presenting a place instead of publishing a stale listing page.

  2. 02

    YOUR LIST, YOUR RULES

Steering a client toward a property for our own benefit is a breach of a broker duty in Texas, not a matter of preference. If you rule an option out, tell us in writing and it stays out.

  3. 03

    DATED

Every rent on this page shows its source and date. Community rents and specials show the day we checked them; a special comes down 30 days after its last check, and a community we haven’t checked in 60 days comes off our pages.

One clear request is enough to start. A licensed agent reads it and gets back to you the way you asked.
