Living in Uptown

Uptown is just north of downtown Dallas: US 75 (Central Expressway) is on the east, the Katy Trail on the northwest, Cedar Springs Road and Bookhout Street on the west and the Woodall Rodgers Freeway on the south. The district is dense and walkable, and it takes in McKinney Avenue’s restaurants and bars, West Village and the State Thomas historic district, and parts of Turtle Creek and Victory Park.

The M-Line trolley, in service since 1989 and free to ride since 2002, runs along McKinney Avenue, and Cityplace/Uptown, the only underground DART station, sits 120 feet below US 75. State Thomas, a Dallas Landmark District, has the largest group of Victorian-era houses left in Dallas. West Village, a walkable block of shops, restaurants and apartments at the north end of Uptown, opened in 2001.
