McKinney neighborhoods
McKinney has three places to start. Downtown McKinney is the old courthouse square and the streets that lead off it. The Old Collin County Courthouse stands in the middle, finished in 1876 with a mansard roof and reopened in 2006 as the McKinney Performing Arts Center, and the square and the blocks around it are the McKinney Commercial Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Stonebridge Ranch is a planned community west of downtown, started in the mid-1980s, with more than 5,000 acres, more than 70 villages and more than 500 acres of open space. Craig Ranch is a 2,200-acre planned community in southwest McKinney, just north of the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121), where TPC Craig Ranch has hosted a PGA Tour event each May since 2021.

Questions about McKinney
What does a two-bedroom rent for in McKinney?
Where most two-bedrooms start, from our own checks, is in the rent section of this page. Each community’s page shows its own rent and the day we checked it. We confirm today’s rent before a place goes on your list.
Can I take a train from McKinney to Dallas?
Not from McKinney itself. The closest DART station is Parker Road in Plano, at the north end of the Red Line, which runs south to downtown Dallas.
How are Craig Ranch and Stonebridge Ranch different?
Both are planned communities. Craig Ranch covers about 2,200 acres just north of the Sam Rayburn Tollway, with a town center and the TPC Craig Ranch golf course. Stonebridge Ranch is larger, at more than 5,000 acres, and lies farther north, west of downtown.
Which school districts serve McKinney?
McKinney ISD serves most of the city. Parts are in Prosper, Frisco, Allen, Melissa and Lovejoy ISDs, so confirm the district for the exact address.
Do I pay AptViva anything?
No. When you lease through us, the community pays our fee after you move in, and your rent stays the same.
