Where it is

Craig Ranch sits in the southwest corner of McKinney, on the north side of the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121). Craig Ranch Parkway runs through the middle of it, and US 75 is about 3.5 miles to the east. Allen is to the south, across the tollway, and Frisco is to the west. The community association’s office is on Collin McKinney Parkway, in ZIP code 75070. The plan covers 2,200 acres and mixes houses, apartments, shops, offices and civic buildings, with two creeks running through it.

What is here

At the center is the Town Center, a group of mixed-use buildings with shops, apartments, offices and civic space on the same streets. The regional planning council counts about 382,000 square feet of retail space and 259,000 of office space in the development. TPC Craig Ranch, a private club designed by Tom Weiskopf, opened in 2004. The PGA Tour’s Byron Nelson tournament moved here in 2021 and is played in early May, so expect busier roads that week. The community association counts more than 400 acres of green space, linked by running and biking paths.

Getting around

  • By car: the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121) runs along the south edge, west toward Frisco and Lewisville and east toward US 75.
  • By train: McKinney is not a DART member city, so there is no station here. Parker Road station in Plano, the north end of the DART Red Line, is about 21 min by car away; Shiloh Road station, the east end of the Silver Line to DFW Airport, about 39 min by car.
  • On foot or by bike: paths follow Rowlett Creek and Watters Creek, which both flow through the development.
