Irving neighborhoods

Irving has three parts on the map. Las Colinas, in the north of the city, is a planned community of more than 12,000 acres, with company headquarters and an entertainment district around the Toyota Music Factory and the Irving Convention Center. Valley Ranch, a master-planned area also in the north, was home to the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters from 1985 to 2016. Both have their own pages.

Downtown Irving, around the Trinity Railway Express station, is where the city began. Two surveyors for the Chicago, Rock Island and Gulf Railway bought 80 acres beside the tracks and auctioned the first town lots on December 19, 1903. The Rock Island depot stood where the station is now, at Rock Island Road and O’Connor Road, and the blocks around it are Irving’s Heritage District.

Living in Irving

DART’s Orange Line runs through Irving and Las Colinas to DFW Airport, and Irving has two stops on the Trinity Railway Express between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth. Part of DFW International Airport lies inside the city.

Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing station has had Trinity Railway Express trains since December 30, 1996. The TRE runs Monday through Saturday, with no regular Sunday service, so plan around the timetable. DART buses and two GoLink on-demand zones meet the station, which has an indoor waiting area and 406 parking spaces.
