The Colony neighborhoods
The Colony has one area with its own section: Grandscape, a development of more than 400 acres on the city’s east side, along Grandscape Boulevard beside the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121). Its operator lists shops, restaurants, a hotel, movie theaters, a Ferris wheel, a stage for live music and residential apartments.
The first anchor came in 2015: a Nebraska Furniture Mart store with 560,000 square feet of retail space, which held its grand opening on May 7 that year, and the city still describes the store as the anchor of the development. Legacy West in Plano is about 9 minutes by car away. We search the rest of The Colony too.

Living in The Colony
The city takes its name from the Peters Colony, a settlement project whose headquarters stood inside today’s city limits. Home builder Fox and Jacobs bought 3,000 acres around SH 121 in 1973.
The Colony incorporated in January 1977 and merged with the lakeside community of Eastvale in 1987. It lines the eastern edge of Lewisville Lake, with about 23 miles of shoreline, and its walking and biking trails cover more than 21 miles.
