Living in Dallas-Fort Worth
Dallas-Fort Worth spans 11 counties. We search its cities from Fort Worth in the west to McKinney in the north. Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano and Irving are among its principal cities, and two airports serve the metro: DFW International and Dallas Love Field.
Most people drive to work. Commuters average 27.9 minutes each way, and fewer than 1 in 100 workers takes public transportation, so where you work narrows the search more than anything else. Housing costs run higher than prices overall: rents sit 17.9 percent above the national average, and prices overall 3.1 percent above.
Texas has no state income tax, and the combined sales tax is capped at 8.25 percent. At DFW Airport, January averages 46°F and July 86°F.

Drive times without traffic, checked October 2026; rush hour adds time. Transit times are measured in Google Maps at a stated weekday time.
