Grapevine neighborhoods
Grapevine has two parts with their own sections. Downtown Grapevine is the stretch of South Main Street around the historic district, which covers 8.5 acres and has been on the National Register of Historic Places since March 9, 1992. A few blocks south, at 815 South Main Street, Grapevine/Main Street station has had TEXRail trains since January 10, 2019, to Terminal B at DFW Airport one way and to downtown Fort Worth the other.
Grapevine Mills is the regional mall on State Highway 121 in the northeast of the city, about 2 miles north of DFW Airport. It opened on October 30, 1997, and holds stores, restaurants, a cinema and an aquarium under one roof. The nearest rail stop is DFW Airport North station, where TEXRail stops and, since October 25, 2025, the DART Silver Line starts its run east to Plano. For homes on the edge of the airport, see Near DFW Airport.

Living in Grapevine
Grapevine sits in the northeast corner of Tarrant County, along State Highways 114 and 121, with small parts in Dallas and Denton counties. Part of DFW Airport is inside the city, and the airport, open since 1974, is the city’s main employer. Grapevine Lake lies along the north side; the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers began building Grapevine Dam in 1948 and finished the reservoir in 1952.
Families from Platte County, Missouri, settled along Denton Creek in 1844. The town was laid out around 1854 and named for the wild grapevines on the prairie. It incorporated as Grape Vine on February 12, 1907, and the post office made it one word in 1914.
