Frisco neighborhoods

Frisco has three gates on the map. Downtown Frisco, which the city calls the Rail District, is the original town along Main Street and the BNSF railroad. Frisco began in 1902 as a water stop for steam locomotives on the St. Louis–San Francisco Railway, known as the Frisco, and in 1904 residents chose “Frisco City” after the railroad, later shortened to Frisco.

The Star, on the Dallas North Tollway, is the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters campus; its 12,000-seat Ford Center opened in 2016. Stonebriar is south Frisco around Stonebriar Centre, the three-level mall that opened on August 4, 2000, at Preston Road and the Sam Rayburn Tollway. Frisco has no DART rail, so most trips start on the tollways.

Living in Frisco

The Star, a 91-acre development in Frisco, holds the Dallas Cowboys’ headquarters and training facilities, including the Ford Center. Toyota Stadium, open since 2005, is the home field of FC Dallas, the area’s Major League Soccer club.

The PGA of America has its headquarters in Frisco, inside a mixed-use development with championship golf courses. The city finished rebuilding the Rail District under a downtown master plan approved in 2018, with a Main Street streetscape made for walking and the 4th Street Plaza, a rail-themed gathering space with room for live music.
