Fort Worth neighborhoods
Most of Fort Worth’s apartment neighborhoods sit close to downtown, which has Sundance Square, the county courthouse and two rail stations. Directly south is Near Southside, the medical district: more than 30,000 people work in its hospitals and clinics, and many homes sit in the 340-acre Fairmount-Southside Historic District, on the National Register since 1990. Trinity Metro plans a 2.1-mile TEXRail extension to the medical district, with the new station expected in 2029. West 7th Street crosses the Trinity River toward the museums. At the river end stands the old Montgomery Ward warehouse, built in 1928 and turned into Montgomery Plaza from 2004.
Past West 7th is the Cultural District: the Kimbell, the Amon Carter and the Modern, the Botanic Garden (founded in 1934, the oldest major one in Texas), and Dickies Arena, home of the Stock Show & Rodeo since 2020. To the north, Alliance grew around Fort Worth Alliance Airport, a cargo airport about 14 miles from downtown that opened in 1989. It spreads across parts of Denton and Tarrant counties and several towns, and two addresses a mile apart can sit in different cities, so we check the city and school district of each one before it goes on your list.

Living in Fort Worth
Fort Worth began in 1849 as Camp Worth, an Army post above the Trinity River. Downtown has Sundance Square and, at the north end of Main Street, the 1895 Tarrant County Courthouse in pink Texas granite. The Will Rogers Memorial Center, built in 1936 in the Cultural District, still holds horse and livestock shows.
Fort Worth is the seat of Tarrant County. Its limits cover nearly 350 square miles and reach into Denton, Johnson, Parker and Wise counties, so two addresses can be a long drive apart. Loop 820 circles the city, and I-35W, I-30 and I-20 cross it. TEXRail runs from downtown to DFW Airport, Terminal B, and the Trinity Railway Express links downtown with Dallas.

Questions about Fort Worth
Is a studio cheaper than a one-bedroom in Fort Worth?
It depends on the community. The rent section of this page shows where most studios and one-bedrooms start, from our own checks, and each community’s page shows its own rent and the day we checked it.
Can I take a train to DFW Airport?
Yes. TEXRail runs from T&P Station and Fort Worth Central Station to DFW Airport, Terminal B, with no transfer.
Is there a train to Dallas?
Yes, the Trinity Railway Express, from Monday to Saturday. It runs from downtown Fort Worth to Dallas Union Station and does not run on Sundays, except during the State Fair of Texas.
Which school districts serve Fort Worth?
Mainly Fort Worth ISD. Parts of the city are in Northwest, Eagle Mountain-Saginaw, Crowley, Keller and other districts, so check each address with the district.
Do I pay AptViva anything?
No. The community pays us after you move in, and your rent does not go up because of it.
