Living in Knox Henderson

Knox Henderson is one street with two names, on both sides of US 75, the North Central Expressway, north of Uptown. West of US 75 it is Knox Street, which crosses McKinney Avenue and then Cole Avenue and runs on into Highland Park, a separate town. East of it, Henderson Avenue runs southeast past the streets of Vickery Place, crosses Ross Avenue and then Greenville Avenue, and ends at Columbia Avenue in Old East Dallas.

The blocks of Knox Street west of the expressway have shops and restaurants. Henderson Avenue is longer and has restaurants and bars, with houses on the side streets behind it. Under the expressway is a station that never opened: when DART built the rail tunnel under US 75 in the 1990s, it dug out platforms at Knox Street, about 80 feet down, but never finished the station. It is not in DART’s 2045 plan.
